The Viscardi Center
Center for Schools with Disabilities
The Henry Viscardi School is committed to providing physically disabled students with high academic performance.
The Henry Viscardi School is a private, New York State supported school that offers parents of children with severe physical disabilities and who often require life-sustaining medical treatment throughout the day, a traditional educational setting option that provides academics and opportunities for personal growth and leadership development.
Founded in 1962 by Dr. Henry Viscardi, Jr. and the first of its kind, the Henry Viscardi School was a place children with physical disabilities and rare illnesses could go to school, just like other children. Today, the Henry Viscardi School continues to be an alternative choice for parents and a resource to school districts that cannot accommodate the academic, health and assistive technology needs of children, Pre-K through grade 12, with severe disabilities.
Optel BCS has been providing infrastructure-cabling services to the Viscardi Center for over 20 years. We have helped them through numerous expansion projects providing them a solid core of network and structured cabling.
The Viscardi Center is equipped with the latest in voice, data, video and wireless communications to provide Internet access, cable television, patient monitoring and an emergency call system, among others.
Past projects included installation of fiber, copper, and coax backbone systems, copper and coax horizontal systems, and wireless access points. The design represented a traditional structured cabling system and adhered to industry standards and BICSI best practices.
